C.A.S.A. launches academic program assistance with Eugene 4J School District
In July 2024, CASA of Lane County launched its Academic Empowerment Program, which places Academic Advocates with foster care children in their schools to give them additional support when it comes to their academic careers. Toward the end of April, KEZI 9 talked with Kendra Jones, Executive Director at CASA of Lane County, and Chrissa Dockendorf, Academic Empowerment Program Coordinator, about their efforts so far to launch this program and get it into schools.
Already, CASA is working in partnership with the Eugene 4J School District to help the students already under CASA volunteer care. However, CASA hopes to expand the program to all school districts in the Lane County area. According to Jones, the program was created to help foster students who are falling behind in their academics.
