What is a Friend of CASA?

Being a CASA can be a big time commitment, and we understand not everyone has the time or the means to commit to advocating for a child in a child welfare case. That is why we created the Friends of CASA. Being a Friend of CASA simply means you are put on our email list to receive updates and invitations to volunteer at our events throughout the year. It is low commitment and open to any age.

Questions

  • Nope! There are no requirements for how many or which events Friends of CASA should volunteer for, although we hope that you volunteer for at least two events per year.

  • CASA volunteers are always the first people to know about volunteer opportunities. If you are already an advocate, you do not need to sign up for our "Friends of CASA" list to receive updates about event volunteering.

  • Yes, each Friend of CASA email contains a link to allow you to easily unsubscribe at any time.

  • There is always a variety of tasks where we need help, and you can choose what you would like to do. Most of our volunteer opportunities will be at events, where you will help us ensure the event runs smoothly by staffing booths, setting up tables, or talking to event participants.

We also have volunteer opportunities that include helping us keep our yard beautiful, stuffing letters for our annual campaign or helping clean up our warehouse! The emails you receive will contain all the information you need to decide what you would like to do and how you can help us.

  • That is entirely up to you! Volunteer slots for helping at events are typically about four hours long, depending on the event, and you can sign up to volunteer at as many or as few events as you want throughout the year.
